How a renovation project works with Steve

Step 1

Send photos and describe the scope

Text or email photos of the space with a description of what you want changed. Rough measurements help but aren't required for the first response.

Step 2

Get a clear itemized quote

You receive a written price broken down by task — cabinet doors, hardware, tile area, fixtures. No vague estimates, no 'we'll see when we get there.'

Step 3

Steve does the work

Steve personally completes every task in the right sequence — paint after drywall, hardware after cabinet painting — so nothing has to be redone.

Step 4

Walkthrough and sign-off

Before leaving, Steve walks through the finished scope with you. Anything that needs adjustment is done on the spot.

Handyman renovation scope vs. licensed trade scope

Knowing what falls in handyman scope saves you from calling the wrong person — and paying for it.

Steve can handle this

  • Cabinet painting (doors, frames, boxes)
  • Cabinet hardware installation
  • Backsplash tile installation
  • Faucet and fixture swap
  • Vanity swap (same supply line location)
  • Toilet replacement
  • Exhaust fan swap (same-size opening)
  • Drywall patching and painting
  • Trim and baseboard installation
  • Floating shelf and storage installation
  • TV and entertainment wall setup
  • Mirror and accessory installation

Licensed trade required

  • Structural wall removal (load-bearing)
  • Plumbing rough-in or drain rerouting
  • Electrical panel or new circuit work
  • Gas appliance connection
  • Waterproofing membrane installation
  • HVAC ductwork changes

Need a licensed trade? Steve can refer you to trusted Calgary contractors he has worked alongside.

Frequently asked questions

Do you do full gut renovations or just finishing work?

Our renovation work focuses on the finishing and cosmetic scope: cabinet painting, tile, fixture installation, drywall, painting, trim and hardware. We do not do structural demolition, plumbing rough-in or electrical panel work — those require licensed trades. What we handle is the large category of renovation tasks that define the final look of a space without requiring a licensed contractor.

Who does the work — Steve personally or a crew?

Steve personally completes every job. There are no subcontractors, no strangers sent to your home. You meet Steve when you book, and Steve does the work.

Do you pull permits for renovation work?

The renovation tasks we handle — cabinet painting, tile installation, vanity swaps, drywall patching, painting and trim — are cosmetic scope and do not require permits in Calgary under the Alberta Building Code. If your project requires structural changes, plumbing rerouting or new electrical circuits, those need a licensed contractor and permits, which we can advise on.

How long does a kitchen refresh take?

A kitchen cabinet painting project typically takes 2–3 days: day one for prep (cleaning, deglossing, priming), day two for first topcoat, day three for final coat and hardware reinstall. Adding new backsplash tile is an additional 1–2 days depending on the area. Faucet swaps are same-day.

What areas do you serve for renovation work?

We serve all Calgary quadrants — NW, NE, SW and SE — plus Cochrane and Airdrie. No travel charges inside Calgary.
