A 65" TV can weigh 50+ lbs — a drywall anchor rated for 30 lbs will eventually pull free under the vibration of a soundbar or a closing door. We always find studs first and use anchors only as a true backup when studs are not available in the right position.
65"+ TVs should always hit studs
Large-format TVs have wide VESA patterns that often span two studs — which is exactly what you want. We locate both, verify spacing and mount through the bracket into solid lumber so the TV is not going anywhere.
Corner and open-layout mounts need longer arms
A corner installation needs a full-motion mount with enough reach to swing the TV face-on from any seat. We confirm arm extension range before mounting so the TV clears the corner wall and swings freely without hitting anything.

Mounting a TV above the fireplace
Above-fireplace mounting is the most requested TV install in Calgary homes — and the most misunderstood. Here is what you need to know before booking.
The viewing angle problem
A TV above a fireplace is typically 60 to 72 inches off the floor — 15 to 30 inches higher than the recommended seated eye level. Watching at that angle for 90 minutes causes neck strain. The fix: a full-motion tilt-down mount (not a standard tilt) that brings the screen face-on from a seated position. We confirm the arm extension needed based on your ceiling height and seating distance before ordering.
Heat damage is real above gas fireplaces
Active gas fireplaces generate rising heat that exceeds TV operating temperatures. If the fireplace runs for more than 30 minutes at a time, measure the wall temperature above the mantle before installing — it should stay below 35°C (95°F). Electric fireplaces produce minimal radiant heat and are generally safe. Wood-burning fireplaces vary widely. We advise on this during the quote visit so you are not voiding the TV warranty.
Cable management matters more here
There is rarely a power outlet above a fireplace and the HDMI cable has to route somewhere visible. Options: a surface raceway painted to match the wall, a low-voltage bracket behind the TV with an extension cord kit, or in-wall routing through the fireplace chase (combined with drywall work). We quote all three options so you can choose the finish level that works for your space.

Know where you want the TV
Seated eye level is the standard — that is usually 42 to 48 inches from the floor to the centre of the screen for a couch, and 54 to 60 inches for a bed. We confirm with you before drilling.
Confirm your mount type
Send the TV model and a photo of the room so we can confirm the mount style and arm length before we arrive — especially important for corner installs and full-motion setups.

Tip: If your TV came with a wall-mount adapter plate, set it aside with the mount. Some TV brands use a proprietary adapter that needs to be attached to the TV before the bracket can be hung.

What mount types do you install?
We install fixed (flat-to-wall), tilt (up/down angle) and full-motion (swing arm / articulating) mounts. All three work for any TV size. We also add soundbar brackets on the same visit.
Do you supply the mount?
We install customer-supplied mounts. If you have already purchased one, have it ready when we arrive. If you have not bought one yet, send us your TV model and we can recommend a compatible mount — common sizes are available at most Calgary hardware stores.
Can you mount on tile or brick?
Tile and masonry mounting requires masonry anchors and additional drilling time. We can do it, but we quote these separately as they take longer and require different hardware. Send a photo of the wall and we will provide an accurate price.
What height should the TV be?
For a living room viewed from a couch, the centre of the screen should be at eye level when seated — typically 42 to 48 inches from the floor. For a bedroom viewed from a bed, 54 to 60 inches works well. We confirm the height with you before drilling anything.
Do you run cables in the wall?
We do not cut into drywall to run cables inside the wall — that requires drywall work and is a separate scope. We tidy cables along the wall surface using cable raceways or management channels. For in-wall cable routing, ask about a combined drywall and TV mounting visit.
What if there are no studs where I want the TV?
If studs are not in the ideal position, we use heavy-duty drywall anchors rated for the TV weight. For TVs over 50 lbs we always prefer studs and may suggest shifting the mount position slightly to hit them. We never use standard plastic anchors for TV mounting.
How long does TV mounting take?
A standard fixed or tilt mount on drywall takes 30 to 45 minutes. A full-motion mount takes 45 to 60 minutes. Adding a soundbar bracket on the same visit adds about 20 minutes. We confirm timing when we book so you can plan your day.
Can you add a soundbar to an existing mount?
Yes. If the TV is already mounted, we can add a soundbar bracket below or above the TV on the same wall. The soundbar add-on is $45 when booked with a TV mounting visit and quoted separately if booked on its own.
Is my TV too heavy for drywall anchors?
Most TVs 55 inches and under are fine on quality toggle anchors if studs are not available. TVs 65 inches and larger — which can weigh 50 to 80 lbs — should always be stud-mounted. Full-motion mounts put lateral stress on anchors when extended, so stud mounting is mandatory for any arm-style mount regardless of TV size.
What is a full-motion mount?
A full-motion mount — also called an articulating or swing-arm mount — lets the TV swing left and right, tilt up and down, and extend away from the wall. They are ideal for corner placements, open-plan rooms with multiple seating areas, or gaming setups where you move around while watching.
