Why Calgary homeowners book this

An unlevel washer damages drum bearings over time

When a washer runs out of level, the drum spins unevenly and puts asymmetric load on the bearings with every cycle. Bearing replacement often costs as much as a new appliance — and most manufacturers exclude this from warranty if the machine was operated unlevel.

A kinked dryer vent hose cuts the appliance life in half

A kinked or coiled vent hose traps humid air inside the dryer drum, which raises operating temperature, stresses the heating element and doubles drying times. Lint also builds up faster in kinked runs, which is the leading cause of dryer fires.

Stacking kits must be model-matched — we check before installing

A stacking kit from the wrong model year or a compatible-looking but incorrect kit leaves the upper appliance unsecured. We confirm the kit matches the washer and dryer before installing — a step that matters if the dryer shifts during a high-speed spin.

What is included

  • Level washer with spirit level — checked front-to-back and side-to-side
  • Adjust all four feet until the machine reads level in all planes
  • Tighten lock nuts on adjustable feet so they cannot vibrate loose
  • Level dryer separately with the same spirit level check
  • Secure dryer vent hose with a proper clamp at both the dryer and wall connections
  • Check vent hose routing for kinks and minimize bends throughout the run
  • Confirm hose diameter matches the dryer exhaust port specification
  • Check exhaust vent cap at the exterior wall for proper flap function
  • Install stacking kit if supplied by customer — model compatibility verified first
  • Secure anti-tip bracket on freestanding range if applicable
  • Test run through one wash or dry cycle to confirm no vibration or movement
  • Check for rocking or walking during the spin cycle before leaving

How to book

1

Tell us what you need

Text or message the appliances involved and whether you need vent connection or a stacking kit. We reply with a flat quote same day.

2

Confirm and pick a day

Accept the quote and choose a time. Most leveling visits are booked within one to two days — often same week.

3

We level, connect and test

We complete the setup, run a test cycle to confirm no movement or vibration and leave everything connected and ready to use.

What's included — and what isn't

Included in every job

  • Spirit level check — all four planes confirmed
  • Adjustment of all four feet with lock nut tightening
  • Dryer vent hose connection and clamp at both ends
  • Vent hose routing check for kinks and excess length
  • Exterior vent cap flap check
  • Test run to confirm stable operation

Not in standard scope

  • Moving or repositioning heavy appliances
  • Gas line connection (licensed gas fitter required)
  • Dryer vent duct cleaning (booked separately)
  • Stacking kit supply — customer provides the model-specific kit

We advise honestly when a job needs a plumber, electrician or gas fitter instead.

Who books this service

New appliance delivery — setup not included

Delivery crews drop appliances in position and leave. We level all four feet, secure the vent hose and confirm everything is working before we go.

Moving into a home with appliances

Previous owners may have left appliances slightly out of level or with a kinked vent hose. We check and correct before the first load runs.

Washer shaking and walking during spin

An unlevel washer rocks during the spin cycle, which walks it across the floor and puts stress on drum bearings. Leveling stops this immediately.

Dryer taking 2+ cycles per load

A kinked or incorrectly routed vent hose restricts airflow and doubles drying time. We reroute and secure the hose so the dryer exhausts properly.

Rental property appliance setup

Landlords and property managers book us to properly set up appliances between tenants — leveling, vent connection and a test run included.

Stacking washer and dryer in laundry closet

Stacking kits are model-specific and must be installed correctly or the upper appliance is not secure. We verify compatibility before installing.

What to have ready before we arrive

Three things that make the leveling visit go smoothly and ensure we can complete everything in one trip.

Have appliances in their final position

We do not move heavy appliances — washers and dryers need two people and a dolly. Have them placed before we arrive so we can start leveling and connecting immediately.

Know where the dryer vent exits

Vent hoses run to the exterior through a wall, the floor or the ceiling. Knowing the path helps us plan the correct hose length and routing before we start. Calgary condos and apartments often vent through the ceiling — confirm this ahead of time.

Have the stacking kit on hand if stacking

Stacking kits are model-specific and must be sourced from the appliance manufacturer or an appliance parts supplier. We cannot install a generic kit — it must match the specific washer and dryer model numbers.

Tip: Check if the dryer vent hose in your laundry closet is the accordion foil style — these kink easily and are a common cause of poor dryer performance. We replace them with rigid or semi-rigid duct where space allows.
★★★★★Google Review

“Delivery left our washer completely unlevel and the dryer vent hose was kinked behind the machine. Steve leveled both, fixed the hose routing and they have run perfectly since. Should have been done at delivery.”

An unlevel washer can void the manufacturer's warranty

Most appliance manufacturer warranties exclude bearing and drum damage caused by operating on an unlevel surface. Delivery crews are not responsible for final leveling — that step is left to the homeowner, but most delivery crews do not explain this when they drop the appliance.

In Calgary apartments and condos, dryer vents often run through floors or ceilings rather than exterior walls. These longer runs collect more lint, are more likely to develop kinks and should be cleaned annually. Confirm the vent path before booking so we can bring the right hose length.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the delivery crew not level the appliances?

Delivery crews are contracted to transport and place appliances — final leveling, vent connection and stacking kit installation are outside their scope. Most crews are on tight schedules and are not equipped to verify level or check vent routing before moving to the next delivery.

How do I know if my washer is level?

Place a spirit level on top of the machine front-to-back and side-to-side. If the bubble is not centered in both directions, the machine is not level. Running a spin cycle and watching for rocking or walking is another sign the feet need adjustment.

What is a stacking kit?

A stacking kit is a model-matched bracket set that secures a dryer on top of a front-load washer. Without it, the dryer can shift or fall during operation. Stacking kits are appliance-specific — the same brand does not mean the same kit fits all models.

Can you connect a dryer to a gas line?

No. Gas line connections require a licensed gas fitter. We handle the dryer vent hose — the exhaust duct from the dryer to the exterior — and leveling. If you need a gas connection, we can refer you to the right trade.

What is an anti-tip bracket?

An anti-tip bracket is a floor-mounted bracket that prevents a freestanding range from tipping forward if heavy weight is placed on an open oven door. It is required by safety code in Canada for all freestanding ranges. We bring common sizes on every visit.

How long does appliance leveling take?

Leveling a single appliance takes about 20–30 minutes including the test run. Two appliances with vent hose connection typically takes 45–60 minutes. A full setup with stacking kit is 60–90 minutes.

Does an unlevel washer really cause damage?

Yes. An unlevel washer causes the drum to run out of balance, which puts repeated stress on the bearings and suspension with every cycle. Over time this causes premature bearing failure — a repair that often costs more than the appliance itself.

Can you move the appliances into position?

No. Appliances must already be in their final position before we arrive. Moving washers and dryers requires appliance dollies and two people — we are set up for leveling and connection, not heavy moving.

Do you install the dryer hose to the exterior vent?

Yes. Connecting the vent hose from the dryer exhaust port to the wall cap is included. We check hose diameter, minimize bends, confirm the exterior vent flap opens properly and secure both ends with proper clamps.

What if my vent hose is too long for my space?

Excess hose coiled or kinked behind the dryer is one of the most common causes of poor dryer performance. We trim or replace the hose to the correct length. If the vent run is over 25 feet equivalent, we advise on the options for your specific setup.
