Southern Alberta sits in one of Canada's most active hail corridors. A single July storm across northwest Calgary can affect hundreds of homes simultaneously — and post-storm repair slots fill within days. Getting on the schedule early means repairs happen before moisture and pests follow the damage inside.
Cracked or dislodged soffit panels leave a direct opening into the eave cavity and attic space. Birds nest there within days of a storm. Mice follow by fall. We repair the panel and check for signs of pest access so the damage does not compound into a pest problem on top of a repair problem.
Hail impact breaks the paint seal on vinyl and wood-fibre siding. Once moisture gets behind the cladding, Alberta's freeze-thaw cycle does the rest — expanding the damage every winter until what was a $175 repair becomes a full siding section replacement. We repair it while the cost is still reasonable.
Walk the perimeter and photograph all visible damage. Submit through the quote form or text photos to (403) 973-5123. Same-day response on post-storm requests.
We review the photos, confirm the repair scope and send a clear written quote. No vague estimates — you know exactly what will be done and what it costs before we arrive.
Most post-storm repairs — vent caps, soffit, fascia and siding — are completed in a single visit. We bring materials, do the work and leave the exterior sealed and ready.
Included in every job
Not in standard scope
If your storm damage extends to the roof or eavestroughs, we will say so honestly and refer you to the right trade. We only take work we can do well.
Hail event in the last 2 weeks
We prioritize post-storm bookings. If your area was hit, send photos through the quote form and we will get you on the schedule fast — before secondary damage has a chance to develop.
Pre-sale exterior repair
Inspectors flag storm damage during home sales. We repair soffit, fascia and siding so your home presents well and passes inspection without last-minute surprises.
Birds entering through soffit damage
Cracked or missing soffit is a direct entry point for birds and rodents into the eave cavity. We repair the panel and advise if pest-proofing mesh is needed alongside the repair.
Moisture getting behind siding
Dented siding cracks the paint seal and lets water behind the cladding. We repair it before freeze-thaw cycles expand the damage into something far more expensive.
Vent cap blown off in windstorm
Missing vent caps let cold air and pests straight into your home through the duct. We source and install the right replacement cap with a properly sealed exterior finish.
Fall exterior prep before freeze
Summer storm damage left unaddressed before freeze season compounds over winter. We handle exterior repairs in fall so you are not dealing with water damage on top of storm damage come spring.
A few minutes of prep before the visit makes the assessment faster and more thorough — here is what helps most.
Walk the exterior and photograph all visible damage
Photos taken before repair work starts are useful documentation for insurance purposes. Walk the full perimeter — including the side of the house facing the storm — and note anything that looks dented, cracked or missing before we arrive.
Note if you have seen evidence of animals entering
Soffit damage is the most common post-storm pest entry point. If you have heard birds in the eaves or seen animals near damaged areas, let us know when booking — we will look specifically for those access points during the assessment.
Check if you have exterior paint for colour matching
If you have leftover paint from when your home was last painted, set it aside. We source our own matching paint, but your original paint will always be the best match on aged or custom-tinted siding.
★★★★★Google Review“Had three vent caps blown off and soffit damage after a July hailstorm. Steve assessed the same week and repaired everything in one visit. The exterior looks better than before the storm. Very glad I called when I did — the schedule filled up fast that week.”
Dented or cracked siding left over one Alberta winter allows moisture to penetrate and freeze behind the cladding. What is repairable in October becomes a full siding section replacement by April. The repair cost difference between acting before freeze and waiting until spring is significant.
Calgary averages 10–15 significant hail events per year. Post-storm inspections typically book out within 2 weeks — requesting early gets you on the schedule before pricing increases with demand.
Get a quote →Does my home insurance cover hail damage?
Most standard Alberta home insurance policies cover hail damage under the dwelling section. Coverage depends on your deductible and whether the damage exceeds it. We document what we find and you can use that documentation when contacting your insurer.
Do you do insurance assessments?
We provide a written list of all damage found and the repair scope. This is useful documentation for your insurer. We are not public adjusters and do not negotiate claims — but we give you clear, honest information about what we find and what it will cost to fix.
What is soffit and fascia?
Soffit is the underside of your roof overhang — the horizontal surface you see when looking up at the eaves. Fascia is the vertical board that runs along the edge of the roofline. Both are exposed to hail and wind and both protect your attic from moisture and pests when intact.
How do I know if my vent cap is damaged?
Look for caps that are cracked, dented, missing their flap cover, or visibly dislodged from the wall. A damaged or missing vent cap lets cold air, moisture and pests into the duct and your home. After hail, it is worth walking the perimeter and checking each one.
Can you match my existing siding?
We do our best to source a match. On newer siding this is generally achievable. On older or discontinued siding profiles, paint-matching a repair is the practical solution — the patch blends in well but may not be a perfect match on very faded material.
How long after a storm should I get an inspection?
As soon as reasonably possible. Post-storm booking windows fill quickly in Calgary, and damage repaired promptly prevents secondary water and pest damage. A week or two is fine — waiting until spring is when small repairs turn into large ones.
What if the damage is small?
Small damage is worth repairing. A single cracked vent cap or a short section of loose soffit left over one Alberta winter can allow moisture and animals in. The repair cost is minor compared to the secondary damage that follows if it is left.
Can animals get in through storm damage?
Yes. Cracked or missing soffit is one of the most common entry points for birds, squirrels and mice into attic spaces. We look for signs of pest access when we assess storm damage and advise on whether pest-proofing mesh is warranted alongside the repair.
What causes siding to crack from hail?
Hailstones impact siding with enough force to dent vinyl, crack wood-fibre and chip painted surfaces. Even impacts that do not look severe can break the paint seal and allow moisture to penetrate behind the cladding, which then freezes and expands through the winter.
How quickly can you come out after a storm?
We prioritize post-storm repair requests and typically book within 2–3 days of a major hail event in Calgary. Sending photos through the quote form is the fastest way to get on the schedule. Request early — post-storm bookings fill quickly across the city.
