Every shower spray drives water into cracked grout joints. Once behind the tile, water reaches the substrate. Left for months, this causes mould growth in the wall cavity and eventually tile failure that requires full demo and retile — costing 10x the grout repair.
Tile is nearly permanent. Grout absorbs minerals, soap residue and mould staining over time. A regrout restores the appearance of the entire surface without touching the tile — far cheaper than retiling and done in a single visit.
A tile that sounds hollow when tapped has lost its adhesive bond. Pushing it back and grouting over it does not fix the problem. We re-adhere the tile properly, allow cure time and then regrout so the repair holds for years.
Send a photo of the grout problem — cracks, staining, missing sections or loose tiles. Note the grout colour if you know it. We identify the scope from the photos.
We reply with a flat price the same day. Approve and pick a date. We confirm the repair approach on arrival before touching any existing grout.
We grind out the failed grout, apply colour-matched replacement, check all adjacent tiles and clean up before we leave. The shower is ready to use within 24–48 hours.
Included in every job
Not in standard scope
If moisture damage is found behind the tile during the repair, we stop and advise before proceeding — regrouting over a wet substrate makes the problem worse, not better.
Shower grout crumbling or stained
Crumbling grout in a shower lets water through to the substrate. We grind out the failed joints and replace with colour-matched grout so the repair holds and the shower looks clean.
Pre-sale bathroom refresh
Stained or cracked grout in a bathroom is immediately visible during a showing. A regrout visit makes the bathroom look maintained without the cost of retiling.
Backsplash tile came loose
Kitchen backsplash tiles work loose from steam, grease and temperature changes. We re-adhere the tile, let the adhesive cure and regrout the joint to match the surrounding finish.
Crack letting water in behind tile
A crack in the grout joint in a wet area is an open path for water. We grind out the crack, check the substrate for moisture damage and fill with new grout before it becomes a larger problem.
Rental bathroom update
Tenant wear darkens grout and works tiles loose. A regrout visit between tenancies makes the bathroom look fresh without a full retile — cost-effective for any rental turnover.
Grout discolouration throughout
Grout that has stained beyond what cleaning can fix is replaced rather than scrubbed. New colour-matched grout restores the original look without disturbing the tile.
A quick prep helps us match the grout and assess the full scope without delays on the day.
Take a photo of the problem area and note the grout colour
Send a clear photo of the cracked or stained grout and note the colour name if you know it — or any leftover grout product if you have it. The photo is the most useful information we have for colour matching before we arrive.
Leave loose tiles in place — do not press them back in
If a tile is loose, leave it as-is. Pressing it back in compresses the remaining adhesive and makes re-adhesion harder. Leave the tile in its natural state so we can assess the substrate condition and apply fresh adhesive properly.
Tell us how long the grout has been cracked
The longer a crack has been present in a wet area, the more moisture may have reached the substrate. A crack open for more than 6 months in a shower needs more thorough assessment on arrival. Mentioning the timeline helps us prepare for what we might find.
★★★★★Google Review“Regrouted the entire shower. The old grout was cracked and dark brown. The new grout is clean white and the bathroom looks completely different.”

Calgary's hard water leaves mineral deposits that break down grout sealant faster than in softer-water cities. Sealed grout in Calgary should be resealed every 1–2 years in wet areas to maintain the waterproof barrier in the joint.

We colour-match to the closest available option. On aged tile, the existing grout has likely faded from its original colour, so a perfect match is not always possible. We advise on the closest match before starting any removal.
Grout fills the joints between tiles. Caulk fills the corner and transition joints where tile meets a different surface. Caulk is flexible and absorbs movement — the corner joints in a shower should always be caulk, not grout, to prevent cracking.
A small repair of a few linear feet takes 1–2 hours. A full shower regrout takes 2–4 hours. Re-adhering loose tiles adds 30–60 minutes for the adhesive application before regrouting can begin.
Yes. We grind out the old grout, clean the joints and apply new grout in one visit. The shower must stay dry for 24–48 hours after regrouting. Sealing, if requested, is done after the grout cures and adds time.
Yes. Loose tiles must be properly re-adhered before regrouting. Regrouting over a hollow tile does not fix the underlying bond failure. We check all adjacent tiles and re-adhere any that have lost contact with the substrate.
New grout needs 24 hours before light water exposure and 48–72 hours before regular shower use. If sealer is applied, add another 24 hours. We provide a specific timeline when we complete the job.
Grout cracks from substrate movement, missing expansion joints, inadequate original cure time and seasonal house movement. In Calgary, the wide temperature swing between -30°C winters and +30°C summers contributes to more grout cracking than in milder climates.
Yes, especially in wet areas. Calgary hard water accelerates sealant breakdown. Sealed grout in a Calgary shower should be resealed every 1–2 years. Sealing is an add-on to any regrout job — ask when quoting.
Minor edge chips can be filled cosmetically. Cracked tile faces require tile replacement — the damaged tile is removed without disturbing adjacent tiles, a new tile is set and grouted. We advise on the best approach when we see the photos.
