Why Calgary homeowners book this

Bracket height determines whether the window looks right

A curtain rod mounted too close to the window frame makes ceilings look low and windows look small. Mounting a few inches above the frame and extending past the edges makes the room look taller and the window look larger. We advise on placement before drilling anything.

Heavy drapes need stud mounting — rod anchors pull out

Lined drapes, blackout curtains and velvet panels can weigh 15–25 lbs total. A single drywall anchor on each bracket will eventually pull out under that load. We stud-mount rods carrying heavy drapes every time, regardless of where the studs fall.

Template-guided install keeps every window consistent

When a room has multiple windows, inconsistent bracket heights look wrong even if each individual window looks fine on its own. We use templates to keep bracket height and extension consistent across every window in the room.

What is included

  • Measure window opening for inside vs outside mount
  • Select bracket height and extension from wall
  • Mark bracket positions with template for consistency
  • Locate studs for heavy drape rods
  • Drill pilot holes at all bracket positions
  • Install end brackets and centre support
  • Check level before final tightening
  • Hang rod or blind track
  • Attach curtains or blind and test full draw range
  • Confirm draw operates smoothly in both directions
  • Trim rod to length if needed or advise on rod sizing
  • Clean up drill dust and packaging before leaving

Who books this service

New home — every window bare

Moving into a new build means every window needs a treatment. We install the full house in one visit so you're not living without privacy for weeks.

Bedroom blackout blinds

Cellular blackout blinds stop the early Calgary sunrise and make a real difference to sleep quality. We install inside mount for the cleanest look when the blind is up.

Bathroom privacy blind

A roller blind or cellular shade on a bathroom window needs to fit cleanly and operate without sticking. We measure and install so it draws fully and sits level.

Rental property installation

Landlords and property managers book us to outfit entire units before new tenants move in. We work efficiently through the whole list and confirm everything operates before leaving.

Patio door track curtain system

A ceiling-mounted curtain track on a patio door or large sliding door needs to be level and anchored into ceiling joists. We locate the framing first so the track hangs straight.

Gift installation for someone who just moved

A booking for window treatment installation is a practical gift for someone who just moved. We take care of the measuring, levelling and drilling so they don't have to.

What to have ready before we arrive

Having everything sorted ahead of time means we can move through the windows quickly and you get the result you planned for.

Have all blinds and rods purchased

Make sure everything is purchased and in the room before booking. We don't supply window treatments. If products are still in transit, wait until they arrive before confirming the booking date.

Decide inside or outside mount

Inside mounts require the window frame to be at least 2 inches deep. Outside mounts go on the wall above the frame and work on any window. If you're unsure, we can advise at the start of the visit before drilling.

Know which rooms you want done

Having a room-by-room list ready means we can plan the visit efficiently and make sure we have enough time for everything. Let us know if any windows are particularly large or need track systems.

Tip: Sending a photo of each room's windows before booking — including a close-up of the frame edge — helps us spot whether inside mount is viable without a site visit.
★★★★★Google Review

“Installed blinds on 8 windows in one visit. All perfectly level, consistent spacing, done in under 3 hours. House finally looks finished.”

Curtain rods holding heavy drapes need stud mounting

A single drywall anchor rated for 20 lbs holding a weighted curtain rod will pull out eventually — and it does it suddenly, pulling drywall out with it. Blackout curtains, velvet drapes and track systems often weigh 15–25 lbs total. We stud-mount or use toggle anchors rated for the actual load on every rod carrying heavy fabric.

Calgary's dry winters create low humidity that causes wood window frames to contract slightly. Inside-mount blinds installed in summer may gap very slightly in winter as the frame shrinks. We account for this with a small clearance so the blind still operates smoothly year-round.

Good to know

  • Have all products before booking — we don't supply blinds or rods
  • Inside mounts require 2 or more inches of frame depth
  • Heavy velvet or lined drapes always need stud mounting
  • Track curtain systems take longer per window than standard rods
  • Rod length matters — we advise if your rod will need a centre support bracket
  • We don't paint or patch holes left from previous brackets

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between inside and outside mount?

Inside mount means the blind or rod bracket sits inside the window frame, giving a cleaner look that shows the frame. Outside mount means the bracket is on the wall above or beside the frame, which is better for privacy and blackout coverage. Inside mount requires at least 2 inches of frame depth. We advise on which is right for each window.

Do you supply the blinds or rods?

No — blinds, shades and curtain rods are customer-supplied. Have everything purchased and in the room before booking. We bring the tools and hardware needed to mount them. If your rod or blind came with specific hardware, leave it in the packaging so we can use it.

How long does blind installation take per window?

A single roller blind or curtain rod takes about 15–20 minutes. A room of 4–6 windows is typically 1.5–2 hours including layout, levelling and testing each one. A whole-home install is best quoted individually based on window count.

Can you mount on tile or concrete?

Tile and concrete installation is possible but quoted separately. We use masonry-specific drill bits and anchors designed for the material. Send photos of the window and wall surface and we'll confirm feasibility and pricing.

What if my windows are irregular sizes?

Irregular window sizes affect the blind purchase, not the installation. As long as the blind or rod fits the window opening, we install it the same way. Confirm your measurements before purchasing — inside-mount blinds especially need to match the frame opening closely.

Can you install motorized blinds?

We install motorized blinds that clip or hang the same way as manual blinds. If the motorized system requires hardwired electrical work, that part is out of scope — but most battery-operated and USB-charged motorized blinds are straightforward to install.

What is a curtain track system?

A curtain track is a ceiling or wall-mounted rail that curtain hooks slide along, instead of a traditional rod and rings. Track systems are common on patio doors, room dividers and floor-to-ceiling windows. They require anchoring into ceiling joists or wall studs to hold the weight of heavy drapes.

How many windows can you do in one visit?

A standard visit handles 6–10 windows comfortably. Whole-home installs in larger homes may run 4–6 hours. When you send your quote request, give us the total window count and room list so we can plan the visit time accurately.

Do I need to be home during installation?

It helps to be home for the first few minutes to confirm placement preferences — especially inside vs outside mount and bracket height. After that, you don't need to hover. We'll do a walkthrough with you when we're done to confirm everything looks right.

Can you install blinds in rental units?

Yes — we regularly work in rental units for landlords and property managers. We can coordinate access with tenants if needed. Let us know on booking if it's a rental property so we can plan access arrangements accordingly.
